Residence Massacre Camera Tablet — Portable View
How the Camera Tablet replaces wall monitors in The Bunker, why it drops from the broadcast room crate, and how it interacts with Trail Cameras.
The Camera Tablet is a portable monitoring device that replaces the wall-mounted monitors in The Bunker memory. It does not spawn in the residence nights, Night 3, or Endless mode. Only The Miner uses one before the player; the player’s own copy is dropped from a yellow crate in the broadcast room. This page covers tablet controls, what each of the four camera slots shows, why the tablet cannot connect to residence cameras, and how it ties into the larger Trail Camera network during late-stage Bunker runs. Place 14437001043, online co-op, PvP removed January 9, 2026, no Codes unlock the tablet.
What the Camera Tablet is
A handheld tablet about the size of a Roblox brick. It has a single screen with four fixed camera slots that cannot be re-arranged. When picked up, it replaces the player’s left hand with a tablet grip. The Player can swap back to the flashlight at any time, but doing so drops the tablet on the ground. The Miner keeps a tablet on a side desk near his broadcast terminal — that one is non-interactive (a prop), but it shows the visual design the developers used for the player tablet.
Tablet stats and behavior in the current August 2026 build:
- Active cameras: 4 fixed slots, no zoom.
- Range: roughly the same as wall cameras (about 30 studs of useful detail per slot).
- Battery: infinite (the tablet is wired into the bunker power grid).
- Sound cue: each camera slot has a unique ambient loop — drip, hum, chatter, footsteps — that helps identify which slot is which without looking.
- Drop behavior: drops as a world item if you swap to flashlight. Another player can pick it up. PvP drop-pickup was removed with the January 2026 PvP patch.
The Camera Tablet exists because the underground bunker map has no wall space for monitors — every wall is concrete or rock. Tea Studio solved the monitoring problem by handing the player a tablet that mirrors what the bunker security room would have shown.
Where to find the Camera Tablet
The Camera Tablet spawns in two places, both inside The Bunker memory:
- Broadcast room yellow crate — on the desk near the terminal. This is the standard pickup. Only one tablet spawns per memory run; if a teammate already has it, the second pickup attempt is greyed out.
- Storage closet wall hook — only after the January 2026 QoL patch. This is a backup spawn in case the broadcast room was cleared without grabbing the tablet. The closet is past the maintenance fork, on the left wall.
The tablet does not spawn in:
- The residence (Night 1, Night 2).
- Night 3 (Lakeview Camp).
- Endless mode.
- The lobby.
Players who bought the Camera Tablet gamepass during the 2024 winter event may still have a non-functional prop in their inventory — that gamepass was retired in the April 19, 2026 April Fools 2026 cleanup and refunded in Robux. It does not spawn tablets in any current mode.
What each camera slot shows
The tablet has four slots, numbered top-left to bottom-right:
| Slot | Camera location | What you see | What you hear |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Surface hatch corridor | Whether the bunker entrance is sealed | Drip loop |
| 2 | Broadcast room interior | Whether The Miner is still at his terminal | Chatter loop |
| 3 | Storage closet | Whether The Abomination is hunting | Footsteps loop |
| 4 | Maintenance fork | Whether the radio operator NPCs (see Soldiers) are on call | Hum loop |
Slot 3 is the most important because The Abomination only spawns when Slot 3 shows movement. If Slot 3 is empty for 30 seconds, the memory script treats that as safe and progresses. Slot 4 is a flavor slot that was added in the January 2026 PvP Removal patch — it does not affect memory completion, but it foreshadows the Soldiers radio scene that plays at the end of the bunker.
How the Camera Tablet differs from wall cameras
Wall cameras in the residence (Night 1, Night 2) are fixed monitors. The Player walks up to a wall monitor, looks at the four wall cameras (camera setup 1–4), and can swap cameras with the keyboard. The Camera Tablet is a portable version of the same idea but with one critical difference:
- No camera swap. Each tablet slot is locked to its bunker room. You cannot rotate tablet cameras like you can rotate wall cameras.
- No ladder placement. Tablet cameras are pre-placed in fixed positions inside the bunker. They do not require a ladder to install or a wrench to fix.
- No exterior coverage. Wall cameras cover the residence exterior; the tablet covers only bunker interior rooms.
- Single-player capable. Wall cameras are usually read by a dedicated caller. The tablet is designed to be checked while the player runs interact pads — co-op sync is not required.
If you want a wired view of the bunker exterior, that requires the Trail Camera system, not the Camera Tablet.
Tablet controls and input mapping
The tablet controls match the standard residence camera controls from Controls with one exception:
- Tab / Right Bumper: toggle tablet view (replaces monitor toggle).
- 1 / 2 / 3 / 4: snap to slot. There is no cycle button on the tablet — each number snaps directly to its slot.
- F: drop tablet. Drops as a world item.
- Q: peek tablet. Half-screen tablet view that does not block movement.
- ESC: exit tablet view, return to flashlight.
Mobile users get a swipe-up tablet panel on the right side of the screen instead of number keys. The peek function is the default on mobile because the swipe panel covers too much screen real estate.
How the Camera Tablet connects to the rest of the wiki
- The Bunker — the only memory where the tablet spawns.
- Trail Camera — a separate tool that watches bunker exterior from the forest. Tablet and Trail Camera are the bunker “two-screen” combo.
- The Miner — the NPC who uses a tablet prop on his broadcast desk.
- The Abomination — the anomaly the tablet’s Slot 3 helps track.
- Soldiers — the radio operator NPCs in Slot 4. The tablet foreshadows their appearance.
- PvP Removal — the January 2026 patch that added Slot 4 and changed drop behavior.
- April Fools 2026 — the cleanup patch that retired the Camera Tablet gamepass.
Co-op etiquette and tablet priority
In a four-player Bunker run, only one player should hold the tablet at a time. The standard assignment is:
- Caller — picks up the tablet from the broadcast desk. Reads Slot 3 (Abomination spawn) and announces timing for interact pads.
- Lead — runs the maintenance fork and reports audio cues to the caller.
- Rear guard — covers the storage closet. The rear guard should carry a flashlight, not the tablet.
- Floater — runs interact pads and does not carry the tablet. The floater may briefly borrow the tablet if the caller dies mid-fork, but should hand it back before re-entering the broadcast room.
If you are the caller and your tablet runs out of battery (it does not), pass it back — but in practice the battery is infinite so this never happens.
What the Camera Tablet is not
- Not a residence tool. The residence nights use wall monitors, not tablets. The tablet is a Bunker-only item.
- Not a Night 3 tool. Lakeview Camp has wall monitors at the ranger station, not tablets.
- Not in the Coins Shop. Tea Studio does not sell the Camera Tablet in any patch. The 2024 winter event gamepass was refunded.
- Not affected by gamepasses. Better Flashlight does not improve tablet resolution. VIP does not unlock tablet skins.
- Not in PvP. PvP was temporarily removed on January 9, 2026. Pre-removal, the tablet was a non-spawn item in PvP anyway.
- Not infinite camera swaps. Unlike wall monitors, tablet cameras are locked to their four slots. You cannot add a fifth camera.
Patch history
| Date | Patch | Change |
|---|---|---|
| October 2024 | Halloween 2024 | Camera Tablet first appears in Bunker testing |
| January 2025 | QoL 2025 | Peeket view (Q key) added |
| January 9, 2026 | QoL 2026 | Slot 4 added; drop-on-swap changed to drop-on-F |
| April 19, 2026 | April Fools 2026 | Camera Tablet gamepass retired and refunded |
| August 21, 2026 | Night 1 Rework | Storage closet wall hook added as backup spawn |
The current meta is one tablet on the caller, one Trail Camera on the rear guard. That covers the four interior slots plus the exterior without needing the lead to babysit a tablet during interact pads.
Voice, sound, and small details
- The tablet has a distinct activation chime when first picked up. It is the same chime used in the 2024 winter event trailer.
- Slot 1, 2, and 4 loops are static ambience. Slot 3 footsteps loop is a real-time audio capture — if The Abomination is moving in the storage closet, you hear real footsteps in the tablet. This is a Tea Studio audio team signature they have used on the Night 2 Stalker audio as well.
- Dropping the tablet with F plays a hollow thunk that The Abomination aggroes to for 5 seconds. Use the F key carefully — drop only behind a closed door.
- The tablet prop is the same mesh used by the gamepass prop before the gamepass was retired. Refunded players saw the prop deleted from their inventory in the April 2026 cleanup.
Common tablet mistakes
- Holding the tablet during interact pads. The tablet grip prevents you from interacting with the broadcast terminal. Drop it with F before pressing the terminal interact key.
- Treating Slot 4 like Slot 3. Slot 4 is flavor; Slot 3 is the danger indicator. Skip Slot 4 if you are rushing.
- Swapping to flashlight in the middle of a Stalker chase. You will drop the tablet on the floor. The Abomination can aggro on the dropped tablet and follow you back to the broadcast room.
- Two players holding the tablet. Only one tablet spawns. The second pickup is greyed out — do not waste time running back to the crate.
- Buying the retired gamepass. It does not spawn tablets anymore and does not refund extra Robux.
The Camera Tablet is Residence Massacre’s portable security console — a Bunker-only item that lets one caller keep four interior rooms in view without standing at a wall. Pair it with the Trail Camera for exterior coverage, drop it before interact pads, and the bunker answers stay audible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Residence Massacre survivors.
Where do you find the Camera Tablet in Residence Massacre?
The Camera Tablet spawns on the broadcast room desk inside The Bunker memory, and as of August 2026 also on the storage closet wall hook as a backup. It does not spawn anywhere else.
Can you use the Camera Tablet in the residence nights?
No. The Camera Tablet only works inside The Bunker memory. Night 1, Night 2, and Night 3 use wall-mounted monitors, not the tablet.
What does each camera slot show on the tablet?
Slot 1 shows the surface hatch, Slot 2 shows the broadcast room, Slot 3 shows the storage closet where The Abomination spawns, and Slot 4 shows the maintenance fork with the radio operator NPCs from the Soldiers scene.
Does the Camera Tablet run out of battery?
No. The Camera Tablet is wired into the bunker power grid and has infinite battery. You never need to charge or fuel it.
Can two players hold the Camera Tablet at once?
No. Only one Camera Tablet spawns per Bunker run. The second pickup attempt is greyed out. The 2024 Camera Tablet gamepass was retired and refunded in April 2026.
Is the Camera Tablet in the Coins Shop?
No. The Camera Tablet is not sold in any current patch. The 2024 winter event gamepass that let players own a tablet prop was retired in the April 19, 2026 April Fools cleanup and refunded in Robux.
What happens if you drop the Camera Tablet?
Dropping the tablet with the F key places it as a world item. Another player can pick it up. The Abomination can aggro on the dropped tablet for 5 seconds, so drop only behind a closed door.
