Residence Massacre Night Modifiers

How every Night 1–3 modifier works after the August 2026 rebalance — unlocks, stacks, and House Chaos.

Modifiers Guide

Modifiers are the optional difficulty layers on Residence Massacre nights. They were added in the January 31, 2025 modifiers update, then rebalanced in the August 21, 2026 Night 1 Rework. Each active modifier grants about +10 Coins on a successful clear. Bloodmoon also grants an extra win credit. Unlock them with badges or by beating listed requirements — the lobby remembers badges you already own.

This page is the stack manual. Pair it with Night 1, Night 2, Night 3, and the night prep checklist. Multiversal / Jerry content is April Fools limited and is summarized only so you do not confuse it with live modifiers.

How unlocking works

  • Beat the listed night or own the related event badge (for example Party’s Over, Backyard Curse, Blizzard).
  • Seasonal events often open a modifier with no requirement for a few weeks — Halloween 2025 did this for Graves on Night 3; Christmas 2025 did it for Night 3 Blizzard.
  • After the event, the badge gate usually returns. Check the Badge Index NPC in the lobby parking lot (Badges).

Night 1 modifiers

Thunderstorm (unlocked by default)

Lightning can strike the fuse box three times a night (around 1 AM, 3 AM, 5 AM, with jitter). Camera shake plus a strike sound means you wrench the fuses. Party can add a fourth strike during the ??? event. Do not plan a whole night around permanent lights — closet QTE skills matter when the house goes dark.

Bloodmoon (beat Night 1 once)

Daytime shrinks to about 3 minutes. Larry is faster and hits windows harder; pupils go dark red; fog is thicker. At 4 AM he can rebound — flash/scare twice, telegraphed by “Something is still here.” Night length grew after the rework (plan 8 minutes of pressure, not 6). Refuel between attacks; after 4 AM a generator run can spawn him outside if the front door is open.

Party (Bloodmoon + Thunderstorm on Night 1, or Party’s Over badge)

A shrinking timer rolls random events after midnight: vision party, random window break (can void Shatterproof / Bloodstained Windows), fuse trip, generator −30 fuel, free Bloxy Cola or Hammer, and “The party is over…” at 5:57 AM (extra 1:30, silent faster Mutant, objective ???). Combined length is about 7:27. Larry wears a party cone. Party also shifts Graves spawn hours and enables pumpkins/presents when stacked with Graves/Blizzard.

Graves (Bloodmoon Night 1 or Backyard Curse badge)

Five zombies spawn behind the house (1 at 12, 2 at 2, 2 at 4 — Party shifts to 12 / 3 / 5). Bloodmoon speeds them; Blizzard slows them. You can lock the first zombie in a closet because zombies cannot break closets. Chairs near the radio table can snag pathing. Pumpkins (with Party) roll items or 15 damage; adding Blizzard turns them winter (10 damage + coal).

Blizzard (Graves Night 1 or Blizzard badge)

Exposure freeze: after 20 seconds outside/unwarmed you take 10 damage per second. Stay inside with the fireplace lit. Logs spawn near the generator; carrying a log blocks picking up a gas can. Fireplace drain scales with player count — solo is easier. Larry becomes Krampus. Party adds presents (Sprite Cranberry, candy cane, hammer, or coal).

House Chaos

Enable every Night 1 modifier except Multiversal. Rewards a dedicated badge and Raver outfit lineage. Combine every section above. Community videos like the House Chaos clear embedded on this page assume you already won vanilla QTE and fuse repair. Plushie / Radar help; fireplace math still prefers low player counts.

Multiversal (April Fools only)

Replaces Larry with Jerry, adds a hunger bar (noodles in the kitchen, ~75 seconds). Blizzard overlay swaps Jerry for Winterhorn and adds Delusion in closets. Multiversal Chaos is the meme all-stack. Do not plan 2026 progression around it unless the event is live.

Night 2 modifiers (factory)

Night 2 keeps Bloodmoon / Party / Graves / Blizzard with factory rules:

  • Bloodmoon: shorter day, faster Mutant/Pest, harsher Stalker, batteries refill three power bars.
  • Party: 45s event timer, broken wires, radio-tower strike, generator bar loss, same 5:57 AM encore (night ~9:25).
  • Graves: skeletons behind the factory; a third UV Light spawns in the shop; UV stuns skeleton groups. Unlock via Night 2 Bloodmoon or Spooky Skeletons.
  • Blizzard: factory cold rules plus Pest/Stalker visual variants when stacked with Party.

Read The Stalker before factory Bloodmoon. UV discipline still beats raw sprint.

Night 3 modifiers

Night 3 modifiers (Graves, Bloodmoon, Blizzard, Purgatory routes) were the focus of Halloween 2025 and Christmas 2025. Winter Camper still gates some Blizzard access after Christmas. Do not stack Purgatory + Frozen Red until vanilla Night 3 is comfortable — see Night 3.

Co-op assignment cheat sheet

ModifierExtra role
ThunderstormDedicated fuse runner
BloodmoonDoor closer on every 4 AM fuel run
PartyOne player watches the event text, not cameras
GravesKite lead + closet jail for zombie 1
BlizzardLog runner who never also carries gas
House ChaosSolo or duo; pubs wipe on fireplace drain
  • Night 1 Rework — why 2025 modifier times feel wrong.
  • Closet QTE — indoor reset that House Chaos still uses.
  • Badge Tracker — chaos outfits (Operator, Raver, Remnant).
  • Codes — still empty; modifiers are the honest Coin bonus.

Modifiers are how Residence Massacre stays interesting after you can clear vanilla nights in your sleep. Unlock them in order, stack only when the squad can name every extra chore, and save House Chaos for a night you actually want to suffer.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Residence Massacre survivors.

How do I unlock Residence Massacre modifiers?

Beat the listed night or own the related badge. Events sometimes open a modifier for everyone until the event ends.

What does Bloodmoon do on Night 1?

Shorter daytime, faster Mutant, thicker fog, and a 4 AM rebound that needs two scare cycles. The night also runs longer after the 2026 rework.

What is House Chaos?

Night 1 with every live modifier except April Fools Multiversal. It awards a chaos badge and a Raver-style outfit. Solo or duo is recommended because of the fireplace.

Do modifiers give extra Coins?

Yes. Each modifier adds about +10 Coins on a win. Bloodmoon also grants an extra win credit. Quest multipliers no longer stack with Double Coins after the rework.

Is the Party window-break event bad for badges?

Yes. A random broken window can invalidate Shatterproof and Bloodstained Windows runs even if The Mutant did not cause it.
