Items Guide — Complete Reference

Items are essential tools in Residence Massacre that help players survive each night. From the basic Flashlight to the powerful Flare Gun, each item serves a specific purpose. This guide covers all 41 items in the game as of September 2026, organized by category and night utility. Most items are accessible through the Coins Shop (formerly Item Shop after the August 2026 update), while some are found only in specific nights or events.

Night 1 essential items

Night 1 (the house) relies on these items for survival:

Flashlight

The Flashlight is your primary light source when indoor lighting fails. It follows your camera in first person (added in January 2026 QoL). Battery drains while equipped. F2P flashlight and battery were buffed in January 2026 to be closer to gamepass versions.

Battery

Batteries recharge the generator on Night 1 (and Night 2). On Night 1, keep at least one staged near the generator. Bloodmoon in Anniversary 2025 let Battery fill the generator completely.

Hammer

The Hammer repairs broken barricades. It is mandatory for any player assigned to door duty. Night 1 needs constant hammer work as The Mutant breaks window planks.

Wrench

The Wrench fixes the satellite dish (for the living-room TV on Night 1) and the radio tower on Night 2. It is a niche but critical tool in specific scenarios.

Bloxy Cola

Bloxy Cola is an S-tier staple. It restores stamina, allowing players to run longer during chases. Every squad should have at least one per player.

Radar

The Radar shows anomaly positions. Reworked in the August 2026 Night 1 Rework. Essential for callouts in co-op.

Flare Gun (Night 1 unlock)

Added in the August 21, 2026 update. The Flare Gun is a powerful stun tool that works on The Mutant. It is purchased from the Coins Shop.

Bear Trap (Night 1 unlock)

Also added August 21, 2026. The Bear Trap can block pathways and delay The Mutant. Place strategically at known breach points.

Medkit (Night 1 unlock)

Added August 21, 2026. The Medkit heals the player. Stock it for emergencies during extended closet QTE sessions.

Candy Bucket (Night 1 unlock)

Added August 21, 2026. Primarily an event cosmetic item with minor utility.

Night 2 essential items

Night 2 (the factory) requires different tools:

Camera (Night 2)

Purchased from Delivery Service for 15 Night-2 dollars. Night 2 cameras are placeable unlike the fixed house quartet. Place them at floodlights and entry points.

UV Light

Purchased from Delivery Service for 30 Night-2 dollars (stock 2). UV Light stuns The Mutant and is your primary counter to The Stalker during emergence. Not optional after 2 AM.

Lock

Purchased for 10 Night-2 dollars (stock 4). Locks can secure doors and delay The Pest’s vent grabs.

Lasers

Purchased for 20 Night-2 dollars (stock 3). Lasers provide an additional layer of defense at floodlights.

Camera Tablet

The Camera Tablet accesses placed cameras and the office computer for sending Repair Worker to fix floodlight cables. Essential for co-op coordination.

Gas Can

The Gas Can refuels the factory generator. Battery is more common on Night 2, but Gas Can is the backup power source.

Night 3 essential items

Night 3 (Lakeview Camp) introduces survival-specific items:

Shotgun

The Shotgun is on the Lodge table. It has 2 shells initially, refillable at cabin ammo boxes. First shell is for The Spider, second is panic. See Shotgun guide for full details.

Key

The Key is on the left side of the Lodge porch. Required to unlock the Lodge and trigger the mutation cutscene.

Trail Camera

Four Trail Cameras are placeable around the cabins. Pairs with the Camera Tablet for scouting The Mutated Worker.

Marshmallow

Night 3-only consumable found while looting. Touch the campfire near Cabin 3 while holding one to cook it. Perfect Cook is the best heal-and-stamina buff.

Gas Can (Night 3)

Collect all Gas Cans before 12 AM. The Worker needs them for the car. Missing any Gas Can does not fail the night, but it affects story progression.
