Residence Massacre The Pest — Vents, Cables, and Phases

Night 2 radio defense, Spirit Helper bed timing, and Mansion Incident flashlight scares.

The Pest

The Pest is the most mode-dependent anomaly in Residence Massacre. It is not one boss with one kit. It is a yellow (or grey) multi-jointed hunter that first appears in Spirit Helper, then Night 2 floodlights and vents, then Mansion Incident windows and a fake kid at the door. Unlike The Mutant, more than one Pest can exist. Place 14437001043. Online co-op. The Abomination is lore-family: an assimilated Pest that learned to speak in longer sentences.

The Nights 1–3 walkthrough video is factory-heavy — use it for Night 2 audio, then read the memory sections here so you do not hide under a Spirit Helper bed at the wrong time.

Appearance and voice

Default Pest: yellow skin, extra joints, claws, black eyes with white pupils, missing middle teeth, open stomach. Party modifier adds a cone. Party + Blizzard reads as an elf. Mansion Pest is grey; Bloodmoon tints the pupils red.

It is one of the few anomalies that talks. The line players clip is “YOU WILL JOIN US.” The Abomination talks too — Tea Studio’s read is that the Bunker threat is a Pest after eating multiple bodies, including the Spirit Helper Ghost.

Flare Gun does not counter The Pest the way it counters Mutant or Husk. Bring radio, flashlight, and vent awareness instead. Rankings: Items.

Night 2 — cables and vents

Pest pressure starts about 1AM on the factory.

Floodlight cables. A Pest drops from the ceiling to chew cables. Neon pupils or blood drip telegraph the spot. Spam the radio near that floodlight to shove it off. If the radio tower is down, repair it first or the Pest wins the cable. Sending Repair Worker onto a Pest-occupied floodlight kills the worker and can make that cable unfixable — that grief is the Misinput badge (Coins reward; index text is the source of truth).

Vents. A Pest lunges from a vent if a player is close. Missed lunge: it retreats. Hit: it grabs, forces jump spam, 5 damage per second, at least ~30 before release. If you are already chased by The Mutant, the vent Pest often just slaps ~40 damage and lets go so it does not softlock the chase. Close Call is awarded for dodging a vent lunge.

Callouts: “Pest on light three,” “vent left hall,” “do not send worker.” UV is for The Stalker, not Pest.

Spirit Helper — three phases, then the bed

In the child’s room, Pest uses vent, door, and window with three tells: one hand, two hands, face. On face, hide under the bed until it leaves. Closet rattling drains sanity; breathing inside means Pest is in the closet — still wait for a real entrance attack before you waste bed time. Alarm clocks and open doors also shred sanity; this memory is not Night 1 closet logic. Full route: Spirit Helper.

Mansion Incident — flash and fake kid

Mansion Pest climbs windows in eyes → half body → full body. After full body it can break glass, kill the room light, and spawn static that lets it grab you. Flashlight flash scares it off the pane. Cycle rooms; refill batteries. A Pest can knock the front door like a child — unique audio. Opening that door is a jumpscare kill. If time feels frozen while you ignore a knock, you probably have the fake kid. Full routing: Mansion Incident.

Pest Control is a Bunker badge: flare The Abomination, not a Night 2 Pest kill. Do not farm the wrong map.

Co-op jobs

Night 2: one player owns radio + tower, one owns vents, one owns UV for Stalker, hammer/cameras as usual. Spirit Helper: one sanity manager (alarms, doors, closet), everyone else watches phases. Mansion: flashlight rotation so two rooms are never dark-static at once.

Learn which Pest you queued. A vent dodge on Night 2 does not train you for a mansion kid knock.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Residence Massacre survivors.

Where does The Pest appear in Residence Massacre?

Spirit Helper, Night 2 (cables and vents), and Mansion Incident. The Bunker uses The Abomination, a related assimilated form, not the yellow Night 2 Pest.

How do you stop The Pest from breaking Night 2 floodlights?

Use the radio at the threatened floodlight when pupils or blood drips show. Repair the radio tower if it is down. Do not send Repair Worker onto that light.

Does the Flare Gun work on The Pest?

No. Flares are for threats like The Mutant, Husk, and The Abomination. Pest answers to radio, flashlight flashes, or bed hides depending on the mode.

How do you get Close Call?

Dodge a vent lunge from The Pest on Night 2. Getting grabbed and mashing jump is not the dodge.

Should I open the mansion door when someone knocks?

Not if the audio is Pest-only. A fake child knock is a kill. Ignore it and keep cycling windows with the flashlight.
