Residence Massacre PvP Removed — What Happened and When It Might Return
Player-controlled Mutant mode left January 9, 2026. Refunds, skins, Full Wipe, and the five-night timeline.
PvP in Residence Massacre was a second gamemode: Night 1’s house, but one player became The Mutant at midnight. Survivors still had to last until 6 AM. The Mutant player won if the lobby wiped. Tea Studio removed that mode on January 9, 2026 with the post-Christmas quality-of-life patch. It is not in the current Lobby. There is no Join PvP button. This page exists because people still search “Residence Massacre PvP” and land on 2024 clips. Place 14437001043. Current game is online co-op vs anomalies only.
Patch context: January 2026 QoL. Developer reason: the mode felt outdated, and focus shifted to mainline nights first. Five nights are planned on a yearly cadence. Night 4 is not out — Night 4. PvP is slated to return as a new separate experience after those nights ship, which community math puts around 2027–2028. That is not a date Tea Studio printed on a calendar. Do not sit in Discord expecting a surprise PvP weekend during Anniversary 2026.
How PvP worked (so old guides make sense)
You clicked Join PvP on the Main Menu and teleported to a smaller parking lot (seven cars, no isolated left pocket). Cars had no modifier panel. Countdown waited for two players. At midnight one player was chosen as Mutant: they dropped items, vanished, and read on-screen notes.
Spirit Form: fast, no door collision, spy survivors, mark a window, place traps (F/X), collect souls (−2s spawn). Timer 20–26 seconds, shorter after 4 AM.
Anomaly Form: 30 seconds. Spawn on the marked window if everyone is inside, or outside if anyone is outdoors. Swing to kill, spend blood to sprint. Swinging slows you.
Traps linked to nearby survivors (position + blood). Level 1–3 needed 3 / 5 / 7 hits to break. One trap at a time. Survivors smashed them. There was no chase theme / static like AI Larry — hiding in closets and behind doors punished clumsy Mutant players.
Soundtrack night sting was ST: MONST3R – The Abandoned. That audio is not a live co-op cue.
Skins, Robux passes, refunds
PvP lobby sold Mutant skins: Classic (free), Noob (1 win), Bloody (100 wins), Familiar Face / Insect Prototype / Alien / Devil / Hazmat / Swat / Wendigo for TIX (now Coins), plus [PVP] The Strongest and [PVP] Cursed King at 299 R$ each (also granted 2,000 currency).
On removal:
- Those two gamepasses went off-sale.
- Owners were refunded 2,000 TIX per purchased PvP skin (same wallet, now Coins).
- Full Wipe (kill three as Mutant) and Mischief Horns became unobtainable. The hat was stripped with the badge.
Familiar Face, Alien, and Cursed King hid neon pupils — that was a PvP night-vision trick, not a co-op Mutant setting.
January 2026 QoL changes that hit co-op (the bigger story)
The same January 9 patch that removed PvP also buffed free-to-play survivors and shipped platform QoL across mobile, console, and PC:
Flashlight and stamina rebalance
- Base flashlight battery improved for players without the Better Flashlight gamepass.
- Flashlight now follows camera aim in first person — important on Night 2 blizzard callouts.
- Sprint duration and recovery tuned so F2P groups feel less punished on Night 3 multi-cabin rotations.
Quality-of-life list
| Area | Change |
|---|---|
| Items | Revamped item dropping flow |
| Death flow | Visual death tips in Night 1 and Night 2 |
| Crates | Skip button when opening crates |
| Clock UI | Night 1 and Night 2 UI clock independent from real Roblox account time |
| Console | Virtual cursor for menu navigation |
| Mobile | Auto-jump disabled; crosshair when aiming shotgun; hide UI on beds |
| Monetization | Gamepass gifting added |
Game balance adjustments
- Night 1 — ladder breaks after standing too long; zombie damage cooldown is now shared across all zombies.
- Night 2 — blizzard damage nerfed from 20/s to 10/s; pumpkin damage normalized to 15 across all nights.
- Mansion Incident memory — pests climb slower on a different floor than the player, and during blackouts.
- Party modifier wrongful lock fixed — relevant if you were chasing the Party’s Over badge route.
Bug fixes
- Lobby data sometimes not loading — fixed.
- Remnant and Wendigo holding-tool animations corrected (cosmetics from Christmas 2025 / Halloween 2025).
- Additional fixes teased for later deploys.
August 2026: TIX renamed to Coins
Not part of the January patch, but inseparable from how refund notes read today. In August 2026, Residence Massacre was briefly restricted under automated Roblox “Scamming” moderation because TIX branding matched the long-gone official Roblox currency of the same name. Tea Studio renamed TIX → Coins, repainted currency UI, and got the game back online. No economy wipe: quest payouts, shop prices, and refund amounts mirror pre-moderation values. The old crate / gambling system was removed in the same window — the hat shop milestones you see now replaced it.
What still exists in co-op that people mix up
- Closet QTE is AI Larry, not PvP hiding. Closet QTE.
- Trap spit mounds on Night 1 are the Mutant’s vomit, not PvP blood traps. Night 1 Badges Tripping Hazard.
- VIP / Double Coins never were PvP multipliers. Gamepasses.
- Scripts that promise “play as Mutant” in the live place are exploits. Executor guide.
When to check back
Watch Updates and Discord after Night 4 and Night 5 ship, not after a birthday Party window. Until then every guide on this wiki assumes co-op survival. If a site sells “PvP codes,” it is lying — Active Codes stays empty.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Residence Massacre survivors.
Is Residence Massacre PvP still in the game?
No. PvP was temporarily removed on January 9, 2026. The current lobby has no Join PvP button.
Will PvP come back?
Tea Studio said it should return as a new experience after all planned mainline nights are finished. Five nights are planned yearly, so that is likely 2027 or 2028. There is no fixed date.
Did PvP skins get refunded?
Robux PvP skins went off-sale. Owners received 2,000 TIX (now Coins) per purchased skin. Full Wipe and Mischief Horns are unobtainable.
Can I play as The Mutant in co-op?
Not in the live game. The Mutant is AI on Night 1. Scripts that claim otherwise violate Roblox rules.
Was TIX invented for PvP?
PvP is where the TIX wallet first showed up (skin shop). The whole game later used that currency until the August 2026 Coins rename.
