Residence Massacre Undeads — Stalker Horde

How Undeads spawn after the Stalker audio cue, why they vanish at sunrise, and how they differ from Husk and Pest anomalies.

Undeads

Undeads are the reanimated corpses that follow The Stalker during Night 2. They are not a separate anomaly class — they are the horde that Stalker summons when its audio cue finishes. This page covers spawn triggers, the three Undead variants (Crawler, Wailer, Shambler), how they behave differently from Husk and Pest at door barricades, and the dawn-despawn rule that ends every Night 2 with a clean wipe. Place 14437001043, online co-op, PvP removed January 9, 2026, no Codes summon Undeads.

What Undeads are

Undeads are corpse-like Robloxians with pale green skin, tattered clothing, and missing limbs (always the left arm in the same rig). They walk slowly when first spawned but accelerate to a shambling jog after 8 seconds if they have not engaged a barricade. They do not have guns. They do not have flashlights. They are pure melee.

Key stats from the August 2026 build:

  • HP per Undead: 30 (one hammer hit drops them to zero).
  • Damage per hit: 15 (one hammer hit from them on a player).
  • Walk speed: 4 studs/sec (first 8 seconds).
  • Run speed: 7 studs/sec (after 8 seconds).
  • Aggro radius: 12 studs.
  • Door interaction: break a single plank in 1.4 seconds.

The Undeads are the only anomaly class in Residence Massacre that stacks — multiple Undeads can attack the same barricade simultaneously. A barricade with 4 Undeads on it loses all 4 planks in 3.5 seconds, faster than any single-anomaly attack in the game.

Where Undeads spawn

Undeads do not spawn on their own. They spawn only as a follow-up to The Stalker audio cue. The exact trigger:

  1. Stalker audio cue plays — a low, sustained hum layered over wind ambience. This is the “stalker is approaching” cue.
  2. Cue ends — silence for 2 seconds.
  3. Undead spawn — 1–4 Undeads appear at a random point in the forest ring around the residence. Spawn point is invisible to the player until the audio cue is replaced by footsteps on dirt.

Total Undead spawn count in a Night 2 clear depends on night length and player performance:

PerformanceTotal Undeads spawned
Optimal (no wipes)12–16
Average18–24
Sloppy (multiple breaches)28–35
Worst recorded clear41

The worst-recorded clear was logged on the Miraheze community wiki from a December 2025 run by player NatureViking.

The three Undead variants

Tea Studio ships three visually distinct Undead variants. They share the same HP, damage, and aggro radius, but differ in spawn rules and special abilities:

Crawler

The most common variant. Crawlers are Undeads with both legs broken — they shamble on their knees at half speed but do not trigger door audio. They are the silent variant.

  • Spawn rate: 70% of all Undeads.
  • Speed: 3.5 studs/sec (always half speed).
  • Door interaction: yes, same as standard.
  • Audio cue: none (this is their defining trait).

Crawlers are why audio discipline matters in Night 2. The Stalker cue plays once per spawn wave, but Crawlers can appear without a new cue if the wave has multiple variants.

Wailer

A Undead with a missing jaw. Wailers emit a sustained wail every 4 seconds. The wail stuns the closest player for 0.6 seconds if the player is within 8 studs and looking at the Wailer.

  • Spawn rate: 20% of all Undeads.
  • Speed: 7 studs/sec (always run speed).
  • Door interaction: yes.
  • Audio cue: wail every 4 seconds.

The Wailer stun is a critical mechanic in co-op because a stunned player cannot call out Stalker positions. Pub lobbies that ignore Wailers get wiped at the door when two teammates are stunned simultaneously.

Shambler

The largest variant. Shamblers have both arms intact and use them to bash rather than scratch. Each bash does 30 damage (double standard) and breaks 2 planks at once.

  • Spawn rate: 10% of all Undeads.
  • Speed: 5 studs/sec (slow walk, never runs).
  • Door interaction: yes, double plank loss.
  • Audio cue: heavy footsteps.

Shamblers are the rarest variant. A 30-Undead clear typically has 3 Shamblers. Pub lobbies that prep 8+ planks at the front door handle Shamblers cleanly — one Shambler bashes through 4 planks in 2 seconds, but 8+ planks absorbs two Shamblers before the hammer player can reset.

How Undeads differ from other anomalies

It is easy to confuse Undeads with Husk (Night 3) or Pest (Night 1 windows). Key differences:

HP3020050
Door damage1.4s per plank3s per plank2s per plank
Aggro radius12 studs20 studs15 studs
Spawn triggerStalker audio cueWorker mutation eventWindow light off
Daytime behaviorVanishContinuesContinues
Audio cueHum + footsteps (Crawler: silent)Cough + groanPhase whine

The biggest functional difference is vanish at dawn. Undeads despawn the moment the sun rises at 6 AM. Husk and Pest continue hunting until the night timer ends (also 6 AM, but they have a 30-second linger window during which they can still attack).

Why Undeads vanish at dawn

The lore reason is that the radioactive spill at the Robloxia Factory (see Soldiers for the news bulletin) is UV-reactive. The spill that reanimated the corpses cannot survive direct sunlight. Husk and Pest are different biological processes — Husk is a Worker mutation event, Pest is a spiritual entity — so they continue past dawn.

The mechanical reason is balance: Night 2 ends with a sunrise cutscene showing the Player driving away. If Undeads continued to chase, the cutscene could not play. Tea Studio chose lore-accurate despawn over gameplay convenience.

Co-op etiquette and Undead priority

In a four-player Night 2 run, Undeads are a hammer player problem first:

  1. Hammer — primary Undead counter. Each Undead takes one hammer hit. Hammer player should stay near the front door and call “undead door” before planks pop.
  2. Caller — watches Stalker audio cue and announces when Undeads will spawn.
  3. Power — fuels during the lull between waves. Power should not engage Undeads.
  4. Runner — collects dropped planks from dead Undeads (they do not drop planks, this was a 2024 myth — see FAQ).

The standard rule: Caller never hammers. Caller watches Stalker audio and is the only person who can announce the next wave timing. If the Caller also hammers, the team misses the audio cue and gets wiped by Crawlers.

What Undeads are not

  • Not Husk. Husk is a single anomaly in Night 3, not a horde.
  • Not Pest. Pest is a spiritual window-attacker in Night 1.
  • Not Abomination. Abomination is a Bunker-only boss.
  • Not in Night 1 / Night 3. Undeads only spawn in Night 2.
  • Not in Endless. Endless mode has its own anomaly roster (Crawler variants, Robot variants), not Undeads.
  • Not in the Memories. Memories use a different spawn script that does not include Undeads.
  • Not in PvP. PvP was temporarily removed on January 9, 2026. Undeads were never in PvP.
  • Not buyable in the Coins Shop. No gamepass, no Coins Shop item unlocks Undeads.
  • Not affected by gamepasses. Better Flashlight does not improve Undead detection. Iron Lungs does not affect Undeads because Undeads do not have a chase-breath mechanic.

Voice, sound, and small details

  • Undeads have no voice lines. They are silent NPCs with only ambient audio (footsteps, wail, breath).
  • The Crawler’s silence is intentional — players who rely on audio to spot Undeads will miss Crawlers entirely. Pair with Camera Setup.
  • The Wailer’s wail audio is the same sound effect used for the Night 1 Pest whine at half pitch. Tea Studio’s audio team reuses the sample at lower pitches for horror effect.
  • The Shambler’s bashing audio is a single impact sound — three Shamblers bashing simultaneously sound like one Shambler. Do not count audio to identify Shambler count.
  • Undead bodies do not stay on the ground after death. They despawn 0.5 seconds after being hammered. This is what created the 2024 “Undeads drop planks” myth — players thought the despawn flash was a plank pickup animation.

Common Undead mistakes

  • Caller hammering. Caller must stay on monitors and announce Stalker audio. If Caller also hammers, the team misses Crawlers.
  • Ignoring Wailers. Wailer stuns stack. Two simultaneous stuns = a wipe. Hammer Wailers first, even at the cost of leaving one Crawler on the door.
  • Spending planks on Crawlers. Crawlers are 1.4s per plank. If you have 6 Undeads on the door, drop 6 planks — do not retreat to repair one plank at a time.
  • Fighting at night end. Night 2 ends with a sunrise cutscene. Do not waste planks on Undeads at 5:55 AM — they will vanish in 5 minutes anyway. Stage planks for the next night.
  • Solo Night 2 with no Caller. Solo Night 2 has no cameras. You must listen to audio only. If you cannot tell Crawler from Wailer from Shambler by audio, solo Night 2 is not for you.

Undeads are Residence Massacre’s horde anomaly — a Stalker-summoned wave of corpses that pressure Night 2 barricades. Listen for the audio cue, hammer Wailers first, drop planks on Crawlers, and survive until sunrise. The dawn cutscene does the rest.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Residence Massacre survivors.

What are Undeads in Residence Massacre?

Undeads are reanimated corpse Robloxians that spawn after The Stalker's audio cue in Night 2. They come in three variants — Crawler (silent, half speed), Wailer (stuns players), and Shambler (double plank damage) — and vanish at dawn.

Do Undeads drop planks when killed?

No. The 2024 "Undeads drop planks" myth was debunked in the January 2026 PvP removal patch notes. Undeads do not drop planks or any items on death.

How many Undeads spawn in a Night 2 clear?

An optimal clear spawns 12–16 Undeads. The average clear spawns 18–24. Sloppy clears with multiple breaches spawn 28–35. The worst recorded clear spawned 41 Undeads.

Do Undeads appear in Night 1 or Night 3?

No. Undeads only spawn in Night 2, triggered by The Stalker's audio cue. Night 1 has The Mutant (Larry), and Night 3 has Husk and Spider.

Why do Undeads vanish at sunrise?

The Robloxia Factory radioactive spill is UV-reactive. The spill that reanimated the corpses cannot survive direct sunlight. Husk and Pest use different biological processes, so they continue past dawn.

Are Undeads in Endless mode?

No. Endless mode has its own anomaly roster (Crawler variants and Robot variants), not Undeads. Undeads are exclusive to Night 2 main campaign.

What is the difference between Crawler and Wailer Undeads?

Crawlers are silent and walk at half speed. Wailers run at full speed and stun the closest player for 0.6 seconds every 4 seconds with a sustained wail. Wailers are higher priority to hammer because stun stacks cause wipes.
