Residence Massacre The Abomination — Bunker Sound Hunter
Blind, noise-led, and lethal if you sprint in its face. Cameras, flares, and side rooms keep The Miner alive.
The Abomination exists only in The Bunker memory. You play The Miner’s last night: manage a sound meter, board holes, and survive a tall, half-blind cousin of The Pest. Tea Studio’s line is that this thing assimilated multiple bodies — including the Spirit Helper Ghost — which is why it can speak (“YOU NEED TO OPEN THE DOOR. I HAVE MANY THINGS TO SHOW YOU.”) and why Pest Control is a flare badge here, not on Night 2. Place 14437001043. Lobby car access year-round; Halloween 2025 also used the Lakeview Ghost on Night 3.
There is no separate bunker walkthrough video on this page. Use the written loop below with the Bunker guide for generator, tablet, and hole maps.
Appearance
Taller and more slender than a factory Pest. One eye is torn out; the other socket shares half of a second head. The chest is a spiked hole. One arm is oversized; the legs split into three segments instead of two. Bloodmoon / Purgatory greys the skin, adds blood, and paints a red pupil.
An early model leaked and was replaced — if a 2025 thumbnail looks “just like Pest but bigger,” you are looking at the scrapped pass, not live.
Spawn, roam, and sound rules
At midnight it tries a random hole. Boarding with a Hammer forces a louder break cue and buys reaction time. After spawn it roams near the player but will not enter side rooms on its own. Lure thresholds:
- Lights on: sound meter above ~50% pulls it to investigate.
- Lights off: the same lure at ~20%.
Near you: growls, footsteps, eerie music. If it spots you at close range it chases like The Mutant. Escape by distance or by closing a bed room and hiding. Hiding with it nearby starts a heartbeat minigame (space / click on the beat). Fail twice and it checks under the bed and kills you. You can bait the minigame on purpose to force a despawn. After a lost chase or a passed heartbeat it retreats into a hole and respawns later. Spawn rate eases as the night continues.
Vision is weak. Standing close without sprinting often works. Sprinting near it buffs its vision — do not panic-sprint in a doorway. Headphones matter more here than on Night 1.
Stuns and tools
| Tool | Effect |
|---|---|
| Camera flash | Slows / blinds it; Say Cheese badge; you can squeeze past a corner |
| Flare | Light slow; cannot kill you while slowed; Pest Control badge |
| Hammer boards | Louder hole entries |
| Side rooms | Safe camps if you keep the meter down |
| Bed + closed door | Heartbeat reset |
Flare Gun in the lobby shop wants Hello World (survive the Bunker) — you will not bring shop flares on your first Miner run unless a teammate already unlocked them. Map flares still exist; learn throw timing from The Bunker.
Stamina at zero regens slower and slows your walk. Keep a reserve for the chase you cannot avoid.
Badges aimed at this anomaly
| Badge | Instruction | Reward notes |
|---|---|---|
| Home Alone | Cover every hole at least once | Coins |
| Say Cheese | Flash it with the camera | Retro Camera hat |
| Pest Control | Use a flare on it | Coins / hat — confirm Index |
| Hello World | Survive the Bunker | Miner outfit + Flare Gun shop gate (Outfit Changes) |
| Solid Snake | Survive without being spotted | Dangerous Dude hat |
| Purgatory | Survive Bunker Bloodmoon | Vessel outfit |
Deja Vu (all memory badges) pays Sacrifice. That is a Mutation Outfit adjacent collector row, not an Abomination mechanic.
Solid Snake means never giving a spotted chase. Side-room camping, meter discipline, and no heroic sprints. It is rarer than Hello World for a reason.
Co-op vs solo
Bunker is tuned as a memory — pubs still help with hole boards and flare throws, but extra footsteps raise the meter. Agree on who sprints. One loud player can lure the hunter into a generator room camp that has no clean exit.

Treat The Abomination as a noise puzzle, not a Night 1 window-light puzzle. If you play it like Larry, you will die in a hole you boarded too late.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Residence Massacre survivors.
Is The Abomination in Night 3?
No. It only hunts in The Bunker memory. Night 3 uses the mutated Worker (Husk and Spider). Soldiers in the Night 3 ending respond to the Miner's bunker call.
What sound meter lures The Abomination?
About 50% with lights on, or 20% in the dark. Keep side-room camps quiet or it will investigate.
How does the bunker bed minigame work?
Hide under a bed in a closed room while it is nearby. Hit the heartbeat prompt. Two failures and it kills you. A pass makes it despawn into a hole.
Does sprinting help against The Abomination?
Sprint to break a chase once you are already seen. Sprinting while it is close but unaware makes it see you. Walk when you are stealing space.
Which badge unlocks the Flare Gun?
Hello World — survive The Bunker. That also grants the Miner outfit after the August 23, 2026 outfit pass.
