Residence Massacre Camera & Ladder Setup
Four camera positions, ladder routing, and monitor discipline for Mutant and Stalker nights.
Cameras are Residence Massacre’s early warning system. The Night 1 Rework expanded camera interactions — if you last placed mounts in 2025, redo daylight drills. They do not kill monsters — they tell your hammer player where to stand before planks pop. Every main night (Night 1 Mutant, Night 2 Stalker blizzard, Night 3 overlap) assumes four working mounts placed during daylight. This guide documents all four camera locations, ladder routing, sight-line tuning, and how the camera caller role interacts with Barricades & Generator power load.
If you are new, read Getting Started and Controls before climbing ladders in a live lobby.
Why four cameras matter
Tea Studio’s residence map wraps exterior approaches on multiple elevations. One camera misses:
- Stalker flank during Night 2 peak blizzard.
- Mutant re-path after main door holds on Night 1.
- Dual breaches on Night 3 when caller loses sweep rhythm.
Four cameras do not mean four players watching — one caller sweeps monitors while others execute repairs.
Tools required
- Ladder — place under elevated mounts; retrieve only during calm phases.
- Camera tool — interact at monitor hub to view feeds.
- Generator + fuse — cameras die with power; see Barricades & Generator.
- Flashlight — backup when monitors glitch during fuse trips.
The four camera locations
Names use compass + landmark for voice chat consistency:
Camera 1 — North porch / front approach
- Mount: elevated corner facing main entry path.
- Ladder: place on porch side, not blocking front door repair lane.
- Angle: cover lawn approach and partial east flank.
- Night use: Mutant first roar direction on Night 1; primary sweep start on Night 3.
Camera 2 — East side window lane
- Mount: above or beside kitchen exterior window line.
- Ladder: tuck against wall so hammer player can still reach window planks.
- Angle: downward on side path — Stalker favorite on Night 2.
- Night use: caller shouts “east window” before audio confirms Stalker.
Camera 3 — West garage / driveway
- Mount: garage roof or elevated gutter corner.
- Ladder: longest climb — assign runner during daylight, not during night peak.
- Angle: long driveway sight line for blizzard phases when lawn is whiteout.
- Night use: catches Mutant reposition after failed main door rush.
Camera 4 — Rear patio / piano room exterior
- Mount: overlooking back patio and piano-room window.
- Ladder: place where Stalker cannot path block retrieval — common new-player mistake.
- Angle: cover rear flank and tree line gap.
- Night use: critical during Night 2 peak when front cameras white out.
Daylight setup route (speed order)
- Spawn → grab ladder + camera kit if separated.
- Camera 3 west first — longest walk, do while map empty.
- Camera 1 north — team gathers for Night 1 prep.
- Camera 2 east — align with kitchen barricade plan.
- Camera 4 rear — verify piano window visible in feed.
- Monitor hub test — sweep 1→2→3→4 twice.
- Hand ladder to runner for interior staging.
Route pairs with barricade order in Night 1 guide.
Angle tuning checklist
At each mount after placement:
- Horizon line — too high misses ground Stalker; too low misses Mutant torso pathing.
- Snow clutter — Night 2 blizzard adds particles; bias angles slightly lower before night.
- Light bloom — generator full reduces glare on night feeds.
- Fuse test — flip breaker once in daylight; confirm feeds return after fix.
Monitor hub discipline
Caller sweep pattern:
North (1) → East (2) → West (3) → Rear (4) → repeat
- 8-second full sweep on Night 2 peak.
- 5-second sweep on Night 3 dual threat.
- Announce negatives — “west clear” matters as much as “east audio.”
- Never hammer while calling unless solo — see solo section below.
Interact keys per platform in Controls.
Power interaction
Cameras load the generator. Symptoms:
- Flickering feeds before lights die — fuel low.
- Instant black monitors — fuse trip first.
- Partial static — blizzard + low fuel overlap on Night 2.
Power player communicates fuel percent to caller so sweep speed adjusts.
Ladder safety rules
- Do not leave ladder at west mount during night — retrieval takes too long.
- One ladder is enough if repositioned only in daylight.
- Runner calls “ladder up” when moving it — Mutant smash syncs with unattended ladders hilariously often.
Solo camera strategy
Solo players cannot monitor while hammering:
- Prioritize Camera 2 east + Camera 4 rear if only two mounts feasible in time.
- Accept blind west approach — double planks on main door.
- Use radio audio as pseudo-camera on blind side.
Memory cross-links
Camera confidence helps memory exploration:
- Mansion Incident — interior camera-like sight lines in mansion wing.
- The Bunker — underground lacks cameras; practice sweep discipline above ground first.
- Spirit Helper — lighter timing, good drill between night grinds.
Common camera failures
- Caller hammering — #1 wipe cause on Night 2+.
- Sky angles — useless feeds look “placed.”
- Blocking ladder — hammer cannot reach east window.
- Ignoring fuse — blaming cameras when power dead.
- All players on hub — zero repairs happening.
After setup mastery
Run daylight drill: place four mounts in under four minutes, then queue Night 2 to stress blizzard feeds. Track camera-related patches on Updates — Tea Studio tweaks static and load occasionally.
Cameras turn Residence Massacre from horror roulette into a readable defense game. Place all four, sweep with discipline, and the Mutant becomes a schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Residence Massacre survivors.
How many cameras are in Residence Massacre?
The standard survival setup uses four exterior camera mounts covering north front, east kitchen side, west garage, and rear patio approaches. All four should be online before nightfall.
Do I need multiple ladders for four cameras?
One ladder is enough if you place mounts during daylight and stash the ladder inside before night. Repositioning mid-night is risky on Night 2 and Night 3.
Why do camera feeds go static on Night 2?
Blizzard particle density, low generator fuel, and fuse trips all degrade feeds. Keep fuel high, fix the fuse box promptly, and angle cameras slightly lower before the blizzard peaks.
Should the camera player also repair barricades?
On co-op teams, the dedicated caller should stay on monitors during peak phases. Only repair if the caller is down or you are playing solo.
Which camera matters most for the Stalker?
East side and rear patio cameras catch Stalker flank paths during blizzard peaks. West garage matters for reposition after failed front rushes.
